It can be difficult to convey to younger generations just what The Great War 1914-1918 must have been like for the young Western Australian lads who left their homes to fight for King and country. Peter Weirs film conveys powerfully the youthful promise, the adventure, the mateship and the tragedy of this conflict. If you need a quiet place to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the commencement of the First World War, then come to Memorial Park and spend a minute under our pine trees remembering the young men from our district for whom plaques were created by their grieving families.
