It doesnt matter if youre a Republican or Democrat; the moment you compare politicians you dislike to Hitler, you have immediately discredited yourself and lost the debate. No, you listen here: one of the first lessons of history is, well, the victors write the history books. If Hitler had won World War II and had become global dictator (this was neither his goal nor would it have been possible, but point aside), all the books, the cinemas, the magazines, the newspapers, the public schools, and the mass media outlets would portray Hitler as a great, but deeply flawed man, a complex, nuanced leader who, despite his flaws, overall was a wise and enlightened sage who brought deliverance to humankind. Anyone who today takes for granted the depictions of similarly cruel Anglo-American Western politicians as enlightened angels descended from the Kingdom of Heaven with hearts the size of Jupiter prove they would be apologizing for Hitler if he had conquered the world, or even if they had lived in Nazi Germany in the 30s. There is _nothing_ out of line, inaccurate, or even provocative about comparing many politicians in the American and Western European governments of today to Hitler. When you side with politicians who have authorized the CIA use of torture of children overseas in front of their fathers in order to compel false confessions of guilt, you dont get to claim the moral high-ground over Hitler supporters. When you side with politicians in bed with the IMF and World Bank, you openly announce your support for the men and women who prop up monstrous dictatorships all over the world. When you apologize for the socialism and warmongering of the American Feds, at home and abroad, responsible for the murder of far more innocents than Hitler, you DONT get to claim moral superiority over one who announces his support for Hitler. Aside from that, all politicians differ in degree, not in kind; all politicians are aspiring Hitlers to varying degrees of radicalism. P.S. If Hitler really was, as you claim, the worst dictator in history or even of the 20th century (this is so far from the case to anyone remotely knowledgeable in history and competent in interpreting that history), and you dont like being compared to Hitler apologists, you might start by relinquishing your support for all the Nazi socialism, warmongering, and police State programs.
