It got very hot in those long sleeves by the time we finished at 1:00 PM. We had more than 100 people go on the tours. Great fun and marvelous event! Clara Hope Baggett was a Tarpon Springs pioneer. Born in 1867, she lived through Spanish-American War, World Wars I and II, prohibition, Womens Emancipation(vote), and many other events. She was married to the Beachcomber Dentist, James Montgomery Baggett, who sailed from Sarasota to Cedar Key to provide dental services, $1.00 to pull a tooth and $2.00 for a gold filling. She was president of the TS Historic Preservation Society, now the TS Womans Club and many others. She lived until she was 89 in 1957.
