It has been 13 years today since my dad passed. I often wonder how different my life would have been had he not. I know one thing I would have made less mistakes. My dad raised me alone and did the best job he could, he made many sacrifices and many mistakes ( he would say). Me and my dad in the last few years of his life had a different relationship then we did when I was younger and it caused me to move away, but I had returned literally two months to the day prior to his passing and in those two months he never really had conversations with me, but what he didnt say told me he just needed to know I would be ok and when he knew on this day 13 years ago he sat in his spot on the couch, read his paper and then he took his nap just like every sunday since I was kid. He just didnt wake up this time!!! Even with our differences I was glad I was there the day he passed and I am forever grateful this man is my father. He could have just as easily walked away like you see so many men today do when my mother left us, but he kept us together and gave me as good a life as he could. I know he watches over me and probably isnt pleased with alot of what I have done with my life, but just like him he knows I am doing the best I can. I love and miss you every day, daddy!!! That only grows with each year that passes. See you again one day and please keep an eye on me and your grandaughter while we are still down here.
