It has been 53 years ago today 27 April 2014 since Sierra Leone got it independent from the British empire in order for us to govern ourselves and manage our land and resources. It has not been all glossy or smooth since our independent, therefore some people asked questions like why we celebrate? what have we achieved since our jobless rate is still around 70% and people are struggling to survive? corruption is still an epidemic in Sierra Leone even with the hard effort our our sitting president to combat it where majority of our leaders lack the clear vision of our president Agenda for prosperity and therefore engaged in financing themselves fearing that tomorrow might not be for them, what a poor mentality? but we do have a lot more to celebrate for apart from corruption and unemployment. Rome wasnt build in day, the house you live in was not build in a day, Sierra Leone will not be build in a day. **We have to celebrate our peace( religious and tribal tolerant after the rebel war, how quickly we get back on track and unite **we have to celebrate some of our development(Health care, roads, farming, empowerment of women, freedom of speech, our train and trusty armed force of Sierra Leone, the increase in salary for teachers, army, police ect. Our democracy is taking a positive tool on our country image outside our boarders and we have to applaud the effort of a man with such a vision. Sierra Leone still have a lot of hard challenges and we have to identify them and find solutions to strengthen our democracy by having a strong voice and a powerful tool of the media, YES WE CAN MAKE A CHANGE. HAPPY 53RD INDEPENDENT SIERRA LEONE
