It has been a trying six months for those of us with the Limon church of Christ, as well as our close neighbors. As you all know we lost our church building to fire on December 8th of last year. We have spent the last several months learning what the insurance policy would pay and learning about asbestos abatement. It has been an education to say the least. The asbestos was in the ceiling and wall texturing. While it seems that we indeed had a very good policy, the insurance company will not cover hazardous materials and would only pay for about twenty five percent of the total abatement, demo and haul off. Simply put the cost of demolition and abatement of the asbestos will be $78,870 and the insurance will cover $25,000 of that cost leaving us responsible for the remaining $53,870. The remaining amount will be deducted from the total insurance on the building. We have talked to and received quotes from several companies for the demo and have finally signed a contract with the company of choice. So work should begin very soon to clean up the mess created by mother nature on that cold winter evening. We want to use this method to thank everyone who has shown support while we came up with a plan. We especially want to thank all our close neighbors that have had to look at our eyesore for these last many months. Thanks you for your support. We have established a fund at the First National Bank of Hugo Limon for those wanting to help with our recovery effort at the Limon church of Christ. Donations can be sent to the Limon church of Christ P O Box 391 Limon CO 80828 Please make checks out to Limon church of Christ Relief Fund and we will see they go to the rebuilding efforts.
