It has been a very long 6 weeks, sorry for the lack of updates. Katie spent the last 5 weeks very unstable in electrolytes. She has been crashing every 10 days, requiring extra salt doses and much more resonium to combat the high potassium levels. She has been having blood tests in her arm every second day and she does not like them. Last week Katie crashed with very low sodium levels. Although she had extra salt the night before. She was raced down to emergency and admitted into high care. After accessing her port, giving antibiotics and doing blood tests. She came back positive for Flu. Even with a flu vaccine this year. Something so simple to most people hospitalised her with extreme measures to get her back to stable. She remained in hospital for the rest of the week. After returning home. Her GJ tube burst the very next day. Back to hospital we went. Unfortunately as it was an emergency. She cant have all that fluid and medication into her stomach, she was again re-connected to IV and fasted for 2 days to get into surgery for her new tube. Surgery was today! She went very well, and her new tube that we have waited 2 years for is finally in. So far I am very pleased with the change and Katie loves the glow in the dark parts. Home tomorrow, after a few long weeks. I cant wait to get back to our crazy life.
