It has been a while since weve posted. Well it was because we have been busy creating a custom camper in a early 58 VW Bus. The floor is reclaimed redwood from a 1907 San Francisco house. The back bench / bed is Maple laminate with custom built wood hedges that folds out into a twin size bed. The front bench seat is Maple laminate with Mahogany trim. One half is dry storage and the other is a 56 quart insulated cooler with a pull chain plug and drain through the bottom of the bus. The surf board theme table features a in-laid purple-heart VW logo, and when extended a bamboo leg. The Skiskate shelf can be removed and used as an escape pod when the bus breaks down. The panels are covered in burlap with coffee inspired custom screen prints. The 1950s soda crates make a great spice holder and magazine rack. They can also be used as shelves for your favorite beverage. The project would not be complete without a custom Road Tripn board game with hand carved air-cooled VWs and a custom rack to display when not being enjoyed. The owner, Chris, is still working on the seat cushions. Once installed this Surf Rat Bus is ready for a true surfing safari!
