It has been nearly 3 weeks since James passed over. During that time, I have had grandchildren to occupy my time and heart, easing the initial pain and emptiness. The Grands left yesterday. Bikeman is back home from his bicycle trek to Wichita Falls Texas. The beds are changed, the floors are vacuumed, the bathroom spic and span, the dogs brushed, and even a bit of training accomplished. So...... Back to Normal? Except that James is not here. Not here to block doorways, to perform his duties as hall monitor, to walk happily with me outside in the cool evenings........ Howintheworld Will I be able to be Me without him? How can I train dogs without his input and his direction? He went before me. He greeted the public and drew them in, allowing my entry into their lives. Then..... The postman delivered a package to my door when the house was empty. A portrait of a Dancing, Cavorting Collie, clad in Tartan Plaid, fur flying, forearms gracefully poised.......An original painting by Pati Merrill, sent to me by my Collie friends at the National Collie Gathering at Sunnybank in New Jersey. This portrait raised $800 for the Collie Health Foundation and Collie Rescue..... In James honor. What does one Say about this? How does one React? This has never been done before. I am completely at a loss for words, for something, Anything to try to say how overwhelmed and amazed I am at how he touched the lives of everyone he met. I truly had No Idea that he meant as much to the world as he meant to me. I think I can carry on, now. Maybe. I think.
