It has been suggested in a comment on the group I Support Avro Lancaster NX611 Just Jane that the general public pay more attention to noisy fast movers such as the Vulcan than they do to the more sedate (but obviously to us evocative) display of the Lancaster. I had a vague thought which may or may not be practical. So heres the thought to get Joe Public to pay attention to Lancasters at airshows. I used to go every year to the now defunct RAF St Athan Battle of Britain Open Day, and one of the features they had was a mock airfield attack by air and heli-borne troops. What if Thumper flew over and dropped an - obviously fake - bomb-load and the ground staff set off a preset explosion? Is that something which would get the attention of a jaded public who do not have our love of the old girl and her kin?
