It has been two weeks since my mum died and it has been an emotional roller coaster dealing with the business of death and her apartment and finding a home for her cat. Today I had to talk to the hospital about concerns I had about her last few days which meant reviewing some awful memories. I was in Trader Joes in the check out and the guy behind the cash register asks me how my New Years eve was and I said not good. I then told him my mom died. After he finished bagging up my groceries he asked me if I would wait a moment he had something he need to do, i waited even though I just wanted to leave. He comes back a few minutes later with a bouquet of flowers and says, these are for you, and gives me a hug.I cant remember the last time anyone bought me flowers and here is this hard working stranger taking a moment to make me feel good, and he did. Reminding me there are good people in this world.
