It has come to my attention that bullying in our schools has risen to an all time high. Yes, even with the anti-bully campaign. Self-esteem among teenagers is bottoming out. Twelve year olds are developing eating disorders, staring in mirrors for HOURS tearing themselves apart, I need a nose job, I wish I had bigger lips, even threatening suicide! They sleep around hoping for acceptance... Look, I know back in school it was hard for all of us girls, even the ones who looked like they had their shit together, but its time to get serious now. We HAVE children and they have the internet; on levels we never imagined; Twitter, FB, Instagram, SnapChat, Vine (I could go on) and these networks allow them to say whatever and DO whatever they please; even if its tearing down someone else to make themselves feel better. Its so sad, its so WRONG! We can not reply on them to enforce the anti-bully strategy - clearly it is not working anyway. And who rare THEY anyway? Teachers? Pricipals, Guidance Councelors? Famous people? (Great role models there). Im sick of seeing celebrities posting photos of their new lip injections, cheek implants, boob jobs. Botox/Restaline/Fillers arent surgical procedures. Oh, okay. Putting poison in your body to appear more youthful? Sounds legit. Why the hell are we celebrating these people anyway? What have they done? So, here I am calling out to the women of the world (some of whom have been tagged in this post) to step up. Most of you have daughters babies, teens… it is time we show them that the beauty they are seeking such approval for starts on the INSIDE. Heres our challenge: Take a photo of yourself, NO make up, NO hair styles, NO apps/photoshop; Simply bare and beautiful! Let US show these kids that when youre beautiful, you are beautiful NO MATTER WHAT! Post your photo with #BeautyWithin in the subject line and lets see how far this can go. Our kids need this.
