It has finally arrived. It is Kings Opening Night. But it is so - TopicsExpress

It has finally arrived. It is Kings Opening Night. But it is so much more than just that. This is the day that many, many people fought so hard for. A culmination of the work the mayor did, what the fans did, what Vivek Ranadive and all of the Kings owners saw in our city. The day that was never supposed to happen. First the Kings were doomed to become the Royals in Anaheim, then they were doomed to become the SuperSonics in Seattle. But somehow, someway, the little guy finally won. We won. SACRAMENTO won. Tonight is also a big How do you like us now?! to the people that wrote that Sacramento WAS or DESERVED to lose our team, and the people who ripped our city personally, and even to the garbage people here IN Sacramento who are against the Kings and the arena being built. Its a good thing no one gives a you-know-what about their garbage opinions. We are on the threshold of a new beginning in Sacramento. In three short, but LONG, years, the Kings will be opening up a gorgeous, brand new, arena in the heart of downtown, something that will be a defining feature of the region as well as the silver bullet that finally catapults Sacramento into something better than it ever has been, for everyone. It is very exciting. I commend everyone who has done even the smallest part to help us get here. I attended city council meetings with Crown Downtown, chanted at games, educated people that were willing to listen. In the grand scheme of things, maybe it wasnt much. But that isnt the point. The point is we all came together because we believed in the same thing. I have met so many different people, made friends, and made awesome memories I will always take with me. There is a basketball side too. And there is nothing wrong with that. Many of us enjoy the spirit of competition. I love watching our players grow. New ownership, Vivek to Shaq, finally have given us a vision for the team. The new coaches wont accept what has occurred before. This is the best time to be a Kings fan in the last 10 years. So tonight, take all of that in, and celebrate, whether youll be at the game or not. Me personally, Ill be working tonight during the game in the team store, and I have to be at Sleep Train at 2. This is an all-day affair for me, and Im very excited. Waking up this morning felt like Christmas. And to those going to the game: make the Denver Nuggets deaf. Forever Purple.
