It has got to be one of the most frustrating and gut wrenching - TopicsExpress

It has got to be one of the most frustrating and gut wrenching things to see these people being treated so badly simply because of their religious beliefs. Particularly when Australia is considered a Christian Country. Such a label just does not fit this place anymore. I mean, yeah, I understand a lot of Australians arent Christians, but a country that has its laws based from such a religion should know better than to treat people with such a lack of respect, and its not only that, all of this behaviour towards Muslim people is only going to start another war. How long can a person or group of people last under such constant discrimination before they are forced to retaliate? I read something the other day, and it summed up the way I see our current affairs perfectly. It said something along the lines of this: All religions have their heroes and their villains, Christians have Martin Luther King Jr. And they also have Hitler, Muslims have Malcolm X and they also have Osama Bin Laden. There are ethical people who live without religion, such as Bill Gates, and there are also evil people who live without religion, Joseph Stalin. The point is, religion does not always correlate with whats ethical. You dont see every Christian be crucified daily because of Hitler, for lack of a better example, so why on Earth is it that we see it happen to Muslims? On a side note, I can understand some of societies frustration with Burkas, what with people like motorcyclists feeling unfairly treated as dangerous for the fact that their face is covered. But you know what? I have never heard (Im not saying its never happened, but its at least escaped my ears) of a Muslim woman who had facial covering on, walk into any public place and cause danger. Never. I can also understand that Aussies do not want their country to be changed simply because new comers dont like it the way it is. However, dont you think that, if it doesnt immediately affect you, and it is only being done to suit someone elses culture, that we can let it slide, Australia? There are many men much like the father in this video who have been mistreated for far too long for the same reasons. How do you think you would react if you were discriminated against so powerfully for something that you had a harmless passion about? Perhaps being a huge Broncos fan, or owning every single album Ed Sheeran has ever made? Neither of these two examples ever harmed anyone and to be honest, I dont think any everyday Muslim people have either. Surely this isnt the Australian way. #haveyoursay
