It has indeed been a wild past few days for me, and as my video closes in on 7,000 shares on Facebook, I have some news I would like to share. Today, I signed a contract with a company in Los Angeles that will be working to redistribute my video to other media outlets such as television, film and popular internet websites. What this means is, very shortly, watching the YouTube version of my video or any other YouTube version that is duplicated by another party will make me money, as well as any time it is shown on television, film, etc. Now, this is a unique situation because my video was of course created with the purpose of philanthropy in the form of raising money and awareness for ALS. While the video itself is bringing me personal gain, I know I could not live with myself if I strayed from the original intent of my video, which again, is philanthropic in nature. Therefore, most of the money I receive from my video will in turn be donated to ALS organizations. A potential downfall of this is that I have no say as to where my video can end up now, and advertisements can be played prior to my video when watched on YouTube. People who know business know that for things to gain revenue on the internet, advertisements are very often needed. And people who me well know my very mixed feelings on advertising. With my decision, I decided that any possible con is heavily outweighed by the potential of continuing to raise awareness for ALS. I want to thank everybody who has been so supportive of a silly video my friends and I made. Hearing from fans of the video, families of ALS patients and even ALS sufferers themselves has been an incredible feeling for me. Im so glad that this video has not only brought smiles and laughter to the people who have seen it, but has also raised money, awareness and support for the life-crippling disease that is ALS. I hope you guys all continue to enjoy my video, and thank you once again. This has been an amazing past few days and I could not have done any of this without ongoing support from friends and strangers alike. Lets keep working together to #strikeoutALS. - Shane
