“It is a great honor to announce that Forsyth County, Georgia Division Chief R. Jason Shivers has been officially named to the prestigious NFPA 1901 (Standard for Automotive Fire Apparatus) committee as Principal Member. His appointment is effective October 28, 2014. Additionally, he will serve on the NFPA 1906 (Standard for Wildland Fire Apparatus); NFPA 1911 (Standard for the Inspection, Maintenance, Testing, and Retirement of In-Service Automotive Fire Apparatus); and NFPA 1912 (Standard for Fire Apparatus Refurbishing) committees. Chief Shivers has always given full-measure of himself as a fire service professional, hence this national appointment and recognition by his peers. Chief Shivers is a 1997 graduate of North Georgia College and State University with a degree in criminal justice and, following his graduation, was eligible as a commissioned officer in the Armed Services, but chose a career in the fire service instead joining the Forsyth County Fire Department in 1998.”
