It is a real shame that there have always been divisions among UK - TopicsExpress

It is a real shame that there have always been divisions among UK Muslims about the moon sighting especially at the beginning & end of holly month of Ramadan. On Friday evening happen to watch the so called aftermath of this controversy on IQRA TV attended by our learned ulama. Frankly it was depressing to watch. Respected Ulama gave impression that the Muslims who celebrated Eid on Thursday have lost one fast and lost great reward for that day. On the other hand, it was mentioned that people have commented that those who celebrated Eid on Friday are Allah forbid Shaitan as only he keeps fast on Eid day. Another ulamah commented passionately that when there is constant controversy about the moon sighting, those are the signs of dooms day according to Hadith of our beloved prophet PBUH. One gets confused and could ask if dooms day is around the corner as per signs, then what the point of this discussion is. With my limited knowledge, I understand that long before the dooms day our Prophet Isa/Jesus (pbuh) is still to come back in this world as he didn’t have a natural death. So I guess dooms day is far away and will certainly not come in our life time. We project ourselves before the majority non Muslim indigenous population as confused since this question has not been resolved for decades & they must be laughing at us. By the way in my opinion, followers of different sects are not answerable to Allah as they put total trust in their committee leaders or ulama that make decision on the moon sighting. I was glad to watch Q/A session on IQRA TV yesterday (Saturday) evening. The Sheikh was wonderful to give responsible reply to one caller’s question as people were concerned if they have missed out a fast. He eloquently replied that these divisions have been there since our holy prophets’ pbuh times and Eid of Thursday & Friday are both valid and Allah will inshallah accept it. I totally agree with him as Islam is not so narrow minded religion and our creator Allah is merciful and is fully aware our intentions. Looking forward: It is obvious that mighty media plays a major role in the current affairs. We need to have constructive attitude resolve this issue for the sake of Allah. Central mosque, Islam channel and other Asian radio stations in London are followed by around 60-70% UK Muslims. These institutions have bigger responsibility and need to make all possible efforts to come closer to smaller other sects for the sake of Allah SWT to resolve this issue. I watched myself that as soon as Maghreb prayers lead by Sheikh Abdul Rahman started on Islam channel le, the announcement was displayed underneath on the screen that Eid is on Thursday. Although almost after 2 hours from their Maghreb prayer will be the same salah in the UK. So it is obvious that these media follow the Saudi moon sighting. Then I realised that some of us are celebrating Eid on Friday. I enquired from local mosque in Woodford Avenue & the management gave me wonderful news that the Eid Prayer will be held in Valentine Park Ilford on Thursday & they are expecting congregation of 15000 Muslims. Let us all pray that one day all of us here in the UK will celebrate one Eid and display the unity and arrange such mass congregation’s openly in different towns up and down the country Insha’Allah.
