It is a really small world indeed!! The lesson learnt today....ALWAYS put on your make up when you leave the front door, you just never know. Hoiiiiiii. Part of my job as a Board Member of the ACT - Community Language Schools Association, is to audit member schools. Today, I was allocated to audit the German Playschool in the City. I got there on time, but it meant I rushed out of the house without makeup and my hair in all directions....but its OK, no one that I know of would see me there. I got to the school, very neat and tidy place and I went through my work chatting to the Director. I was so impressed with the way they are set up, their activities and since I have a special interest in community language schools, I mentioned to her that I run the little Tongan Language School. The Director looked at me and said Tonga? Tonga? Ive just come back from Tonga! and I loved it! We were so excited with this discovery....then she went on....that they were very well looked after by Iteni Helu....just then I realised the Director is also running the Scouts in this area.....how exciting....I blurted out....Iteni Helu? Yes, hes my uncle. More excited shrieks and laughter from us both then she reached out..... for her phone CAMERA!!!! Hoiaueee....Ive just realised the next step and I wanted to hide....she said, lets take a photo to send Iteni.....of course I didnt have time to fix my face or hair....lol...snapped, our photo went off in the email to my uncle Iteni and aunt Tema. Now....children....Meliame especially, please do NOT upload that photo to FB, hahahahaa. You can blackmail me with that later....but come hail, rain or shine, come time constraints, whatever....I will put on my MAKE UP before I leave the front door!!! Hahahaha. That aside, I had a great morning at the German Playschool. I would love our little Tongan Language School to be half as great as them.....we will get there FANAU, believe me when I say so!!! The Director and I talked about Tonga for the rest of my stay....we spoke of places they visited...Oholei was a great favourite, Pangaimotu, Friends Cafe, another Cafe next to the Supermarket, she thinks it is called Wharf Cafe. I have found a new, great friend.....and I feel so blessed. She and her husband are organising stuff to send to the Scouts and Iteni Helu in Tonga, it would be wonderful if the Tongan community can contribute, I thought. But I am adopting the Scouts motto thats for sure....BE PREPARED!!!!! Do not leave the house without your makeup, thats my message for today. Hahahaa!!!! Enjoy your day everyone, I have already and how inspiring my visit has been, I am very grateful. xoxoxo With Louena A. Helu
