It is a vital prerequisite in seeking truth that we are objective. - TopicsExpress

It is a vital prerequisite in seeking truth that we are objective. And when it is found we must submit to it irrespective of its origin - whether its minority, majority, Muslim, non-Muslim, sinless or sinful, layman or learned etc. Nothing should influence our analysis. The majority does not automatically hold a monopoly to truth. Nor the West or the East. No Scholar present or past is above criticism or error. And any one who stretches their knowledge in the content of the Quran has a birth right to make their own conclusions. The blind following of the Clergy/Ulama needs to be shunned. As far as the Quran is concerned there is no respect for any so-called intellectual who preach the obedience to the conclusions of another human and equally disdainful are any individuals who spout borrowed intelligence without any intellectualisation of their own. And finally, it is an insecurity complex and futile argument to suggest that if non-specialists were left to interpret the Quran themselves then we will be doing everything differently - the Book of God is not a puzzling and specialist message that requires 40 plus years of solid contemplation in solitude before beginning to grasp the requirements of Gods commandments.
