It is amazing sometimes the coincidences we have. Not really - TopicsExpress

It is amazing sometimes the coincidences we have. Not really surprising, since it should be expected that with so many people and events in the world that two of these will occasionally be brought together in time and space to produce what a Californian friend of mine would call a “co-inky-dinky” . For example, this Spring I attended a meeting in New Jersey of about 250 Boy Scout leaders who had a similar interest. During the meeting I was requested to say a few words about my recent trip to East Africa and the possibilities for scouts who wanted to go there for a high adventure experience. I agreed and spoke briefly, ending by saying that I would be available after the session to talk further with anyone who was interested. The agenda was packed and I did not want to hog any of the time. Afterwards two men and a woman came up to talk to me. I displayed some photographs for them and proposed several options that I thought would be fun and feasible. The men left after five or so minutes, but the woman lingered on and asked a lot of questions. We felt comfortable with each other and ended up talking easily for half an hour. She lives in a suburb of New York City and I live in Washington, DC, but we both grew up in Saint Paul, Minnesota. Voila! Same dialect, same gestures (or in the case of Minnesota, lack of gestures), and similar childhood experiences. Of course we felt comfortable – we were soulmates! Diving further into our backgrounds, we discovered that our families were from the same neighborhood and that our fathers knew each other. PLEASE PLEASE ME by posting an example of a similar coincidence that happened to you. I have but few friends or followers on FB so the results won’t be overbearing in number but they may be entertaining in content. Then I will inform you of another amazing co-inky-dinky that occurred last Friday. Thanks.
