It is an interesting note that todays paper recognized that yesterday was the 100th anniversary of the spark that set off World War One leaving us such consequences as Soviet Communism and States carved out of Turkey that were inherently unstable such as Iraq and Syria. While we are busy focusing today on the outgrowth of those two failed states; lets also recall that 2014 is the 25th anniversary of the fall of Communism. Like most Boomers, its existence focused ones thinking about the world through ideology and no one hardly saw its end coming in 1989. While Ill disagree with some of the arguments and conclusions in this article from the New Republic; what I wont dispute is that younger generations who didnt grow up in the Cold War atmosphere can barely grasp the thought process, fears, and ideas that were in such sharp contrast in those times of our youth
