It is astonishing to see the thought patterns at work with those who accept the official story of everything without question. One common response to tragedy is that by questioning the official story to see if it stands up (it rarely does) you are somehow having no respect for the dead. So accepting the authorities’ version of what happened is equated with having respect for the dead?? What an extraordinary concept and what mental gymnastics and self-deception it must take to reach that conclusion. What respects the dead is establishing what happened and why. I am not saying what happened in Paris – far too early for that – but to keep an open mind in the face of the immediately-communicated official story is essential in all these situations. Otherwise you get billions of people believing – purely by repetition of the official narrative at the exclusion of any other – that ‘terrorists’ who could not fly one-engined Cessnas could suddenly manifest the ability to fly wide-bodied jets with such fantastic skill and precision that a Lufthansa pilot of 28 years told me he could not have even nearly managed to do it. Naivety is a human disease and its major symptoms are arrogance, ignorance and myopia. It stands out so plainly on this page where so many others have a mind of their own.
