It is but the curious case of the ego. That same chattering noise that takes all the credit when you’ve accomplished something brilliant. The same that claims to honor you as you go forward to conquer. It is the same that curses you and tears you down, now disguised as insecurity. It will chatter forever, but a trick you may learn is this: we’re really not thinking about you. So all the self-centered fear that drives your outward goals serves, maybe, a mere portion of your aspirations in the thought life of the community of peers your ego assumes to affect. We’re are all just here surviving, spending only brief intervals, mere moments in life, conjuring judgement and opinions of each other. And then, with everything else, those opinions die natural deaths, with the next coming wave of life experience and relationship. Do not think you can claim property in the mind of another, because you will, inevitably, be evicted. Thus the ego chatters more, demanding the importance of self, or the lack of importance. Both are an illusion. We are all brilliant as a part of the whole. We are none of us, the whole alone. Humility, therefore, is not a virtue, but rather, a simple recognition of truth.
