It is crystal clear from the situation of things in the country - TopicsExpress

It is crystal clear from the situation of things in the country that security of lives and property is a mirage. It is a big shame that the utmost seat of power in Nigeria has become a training ground of the so called boko haram. Let the truth be told, nowhere is safe in Nigeria. That boko haram has not inflicted or shower this terror on people in other parts of the country is not by the power or grace of anybody, ethnic militia or whatever. It is only by the grace of God. But we cannot continue to apply the wrong medications and expect healing of our land. They(our leaders) can only tell Nigerians how much the government has invested in security, they cannot show positive results for the money claimed to have been invested in security so far. In democracy, the masses are supposed to be the determinant of what they want. If that is true, then what if the masses give a condition of a considerable amount of solution to the boko haram problem in Nigeria as the necessary and sufficient condition for 2015 general elections to hold? They have the right to demand for what is good for them and also posses the right to reject what is not in their best interest. If you say the masses cannot boycott the general elections, then I will quickly take you back to the memory lane i.e during SUBSIDY ISSUE(GOVT. VS. MASSES). At last the wishes of the people prevailed. So let the govt. be aware that you can only take the horse to the stream, you cannot force it to drink. There is fire on the mountain visible to those who can see beyond their narrow and selfish way of viewing issues. My prayers is not that the 2015 elections should not hold but for Nigeria to regain her peaceful state. Peace first, other things follow. Peace is sine qua none to any meaningful development. The likes of Dr. Olusegun Agagu, Alhaji Umaru Yar Adua and host of others will always be remembered for their successes in evolving peaceful atmosphere on the land. Various communal clashes, Ijaw vs. Ilaje crisis, crisis due to chieftancy tussles, crisis in Owo, Idoani, Akure, all became a thing of the past even at the threshold of the late Dr. Olusegun Agagus reign. Late President Umaru Yar Adua will forever be remembered for the huge success achieved in his amnesty programme in Niger Delta. What will you want to be remembered for as a local govt. chairman, Governor, President with regards to success in ensuring peaceful co- existence among the people, security of lives and properties of the people you are leading now? We judge ourselves by what we feel capable of doing, others judge us by what we have done. Let us change for the better. Thanks.
