It is evident that none of the speakers at this Grand Inquisition - TopicsExpress

It is evident that none of the speakers at this Grand Inquisition bothered to read the people they criticize. Consider this: ---- Steve Schneck, director of the Institute for Policy Research & Catholic Studies, which sponsored the conference, argued that like Christianity, libertarianism “offers a comprehensive worldview that informs ethics and art, lifestyles and culture, and even relationships and psychologies. ---- Its hard to read any libertarian text that doesnt specifically, clearly, and directly state the opposite: that one can be a Jew or a Catholic, a Buddhist or a Hindu (or both), an atheist or a Muslim, an organic farmer or a stock broker, a devotee of classical music or grunge rock, and be a libertarian; libertarianism is precisely *not* a comprehensive worldview, but simply a political philosophy of peaceful co-existence and voluntary cooperation. It seems that none of these people bother to read the very people they attack. What a step down from the tradition of Catholic scholarship and inquiry. (And the irony of an out-and-youd-better-like-it-or-Ill-make-a-scene gay stereotype such as Winters insisting that liberty is anti-Catholic and calling for a new Inquisition is really, really rich.)
