It is for freedom that Christ has set us free. Stand firm, then, - TopicsExpress

It is for freedom that Christ has set us free. Stand firm, then, and do not let yourselves be burdened again by a yoke of slavery. Galatians 5:1 (NIV) Paul was probably speaking of two things here: freedom from the law of works and freedom from sin and death. Let us look at the latter, beloved. All who have sinned were dead in their wrongdoing - they were slaves to Satan! Yet Jesus bought us - those who repent and believe in Him - from Satan with His blood, setting us free! Praise Christ! Paul acknowledges this in this verse - He urges believers to stand firm in Christ - for in Christ alone, we are free from slavery. Under sin, we were burdened with a heavy yoke - forced to carry a heavy weight of guilt, shame and condemnation. But Jesus took that weight and lifted it from us, indeed He took it upon Himself on the cross as He bore our sins! Was it not Jesus who said: "Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest"? Beloved, may you stand firm in Christ Jesus for He gives you rest and security from the evil one whose desire is to enslave you in sin which leads ultimately to death and separation from the God who gave His Son for you! In Christ alone, our hope is found - praise God!
