It is funny. I only have positive memories of RHA. It is such a grand part of who I am today. Even if the nuns called me Regina, Susie, until they figured out I was Aileen. Or when a faculty member would say you have to be in Glee Club, both of your sisters were. Yes, I knew we were sometimes like the girls in the movie that escapes me right now, where the most troublesome girl stayed behind to go into the convent. One of the nuns picked three of us that were most likely candidates for the sisterhood. It was a blessing and a curse as the Times They Were A Changing after Vatican II. The Church has not even implemented everything from Vatican II. I am excited that I can be a Director of Religious Education and a Pastoral Associate at a Diocese in NJ. It combines all my dreams, teaching music(I still play the guitar with the kids) teaching (which I knew I wanted to do in the 6th grade). And realizing at around age 45 that Romantic Novels on the beach in LBI every summer was going to be a waste of time for me. I just want to read more about Theology and study Sacred Scripture. There is so much to read and so little time!
