It is going on into the ninth hour and Jesus still hangs on the - TopicsExpress

It is going on into the ninth hour and Jesus still hangs on the old rugged cross. Dried up blood from a crown of six inch thorns driven into His head, covers His face. Welts and deep gashes of tattered, hanging skin, from massive beatings, reveal white bone matter beneath it. Seven inch nails driven into His wrists and ankles, sending sharp, excruciating impulses of pain throughout each nerve of His body. His heart slightly ruptured from a nasty fall while carrying a 110lb slab of solid wood strapped to His back. His eyes blackened and half closed. In fact, His face was so disfigured that the bible states that He is barely recognizable as a human being! “Just as many were astonished at you, So His visage was marred more than any man, And His form more than the sons of men.” (Isaiah 52:14) Losing strength, He leans forward, disconnecting his elbows and shoulders, making it virtually impossible to breathe. Severe cramps and contractions take over the body as the heart begins to pound vigorously to compensate for the other organs in the body that are beginning to shut down, until finally, it stops beating. The ending result, suffocation and death! Now close your eyes for a minute and try to paint a picture of the description of what you just read. Can you imagine the horror, the sorrow, the agony and the pain, of what Jesus went through on the cross? Can you imagine the pain and burden of having to bear the sins of billions of people, dead and alive, all within a small nine hour time frame? No, you cannot and you never will! Jesus took it upon Himself to experience the death that was meant for you and me, as a penalty of our sins! He did it with love and He did it without complaining! Jesus died and all He asks for in return is for us, HIS CHILDREN, to follow His commandments, and to obey them without complaining! We all have a knack for complaining about our circumstances, but the truth of the matter is that our blessings will ALWAYS outnumber the amount problems that we have on any given day! By JESUS dying on the cross as an atonement for our sins, we can now claim the victory over the misfortunes of this life, the victory over death, and the victory over Satan, by not having to spend our eternity in a fiery Hell! We know this because the bible says that, “He was wounded for our transgressions, He was bruised for our iniquities; the chastisement for our peace was upon Him, And by His stripes we are healed.” (Isaiah 53:4-6) No matter what we go through on this earth, Jesus deserves our blood, our sweat, and our tears; the same blood, sweat and tears that escaped His body while hanging, suffering, and dying on an old rugged cross, over two thousand years ago for us! Lord, give us the strength to trust you and to thank you in good times and in bad, because you, above all else, are worthy of all the honor, and of all the glory, and of all the praise! Amen!
