It is in my opinion that the most difficult struggles we face as individuals and a human race within this lifetime, are self induced. Our willingness to assert fault and need to have approval are surely our downfall. Not even as much by our choices; but by our own willingness to accept the consequences, and rise to the occasion with a heart that is willing an open to change/growth/defeat/triumph. The general public becomes enamored with faddish facets of the superficial fixing. Humans, Its in your heart! Start there first.
