It is in the #old #forest that makes the best #carbon traps Scientists have upset the idea that young trees grow faster than the old ones and thus absorb more #CO2. This is just the opposite: by analyzing, in the world, no less than 673 046 trees belonging to 403 different species, the researchers showed that it is the older specimens that grow the fastest and store more carbon. In particular, these large trees have more leaf for photosynthesis and increased deposition surface for creating wood.
