It is interesting how much of ones identity becomes melded with ones spouse in a close +30 year marriage. I used to enjoy going to cultural events and just off in the wild blue yonder but now I find that those were just opportunities to share good times. Today they hold little attraction for me. My interest in botany used to be all consuming, I spent a lot of my free time and working time collecting and identifying plants in the wild. Now I look at them on a hike and recall their names, in some cases try to :-) Thats as far as it goes. No more passion. Im not whining or looking for sympathy. This is just an observation of a change in my personal style I never expected. Now I am drawn to physical exercise and the banter on Facebook. Most of the other activities have changed little, I have become a fair housekeeper and a much more attached to the dog than I had been with past dog companions.
