It is interesting that we do not teach Tesla in schools, otter - TopicsExpress

It is interesting that we do not teach Tesla in schools, otter than a cursory mention (unless I am wildly out of date). We never heard a thing about him, only about Faraday et al. What is interesting is that an equal part of his genius came from his humanity, and sense of decency towards others. I often wonder why my education always separated the human considerations from the scientific ones. Oppenheimers famous speech after making the atom bomb was never included in the physics classes when we learnt about the bomb, just the mechanics. And yet, we have a new wave of scientists whose humanity and compassion, as well as their passion, is in equal measure. Things are changing for the better, but it would be so much nicer to have a Tesla Day rather than a Thatcher day and celebrate something good, not greedy
