It is no secret that i get very passionate about many, many things. That is how i am, i put everything i have into what i do. It is also no secret that i love being a part of Portage Potato Festival and i have a lot of pride for what i do but i have realized recently that i also love Roller Derby. I started volunteering because they were desperate and i wanted them to succeed (i never want anyone/anything to fail). I was free that day and geno was working so why not. Well golly i have grown to love it. I mean i would have to in order to be a bartender for 9.5 hours last weekend for free but it is so fun and interesting. I learned a lot more tonight as a NSO (Non scoring official) and now that i understand it more that will make it even better but idk why anyone wouldnt want to come out and support them. People constantly complaining about nothing to do but those same people will not get out there and support what we do have in this community. Some events are free (like the potato festival) and some are not but cheap (like roller derby). It is only $10 a person but those under 10 are free so you can even bring your family and get out of the house for cheap. Really, what is holding you back? It may be a bit confusing but Plap City Rollers have awesome programs and they have the positions & scoring instructions inside them. They also have pizza and you can get a combo with a drink & chips for cheap! These ladies put a lot of time, money & effort into doing what they love. I am going to sleep in tomorrow but i am looking forward to going back to the tournament Roller Derby Manitoba has put on for the last game and the awards. There is some seriously talented & tough people out there. It is definitely a fast paced sport and so much going on all the time that you would not be bored.
