It is no surprise to me that the Tibetan Buddhist tradition uses the passion of an intimate relationship as a metaphor for the spiritual journey since both seek to satisfy very similar longings. People look to their lovers for a feeling of connection much as they look to their spiritual pursuits for meaning in their lives. The reverberations of a mutual attraction are parallel in some ways to the discovery of the power of meditation.
