It is not lightly that i could recommend such a movie...nor lightly could i watch it. The death of our civilization lurks within this well done fascinating disturbing true life tale spun eloquently by Sofia Coppola. I didnt know what to expect, and was worried HBO Girls type Lena Dunham stuff was going to attack me, but it did not and fortunately I trusted Ms. Coppola enough to watch this. At times, it felt like I was watching a documentary, it was told so well, and i didnt even know for sure it was based on true events, although i had a suspicion. The characters are throughly awful as are the circumstances and their deeds and yet I feel badly for them because...well they are raised in this crap and inundated. I relate to absolutely nothing in this movie and yet I did watch enthralled and disturbed...and entertained. As we would expect from a filmmaker of the great Coppola name, there is brilliant filmmaking in here and fortunately subtle and even a tad elegant at parts. Definitely worth watching..and no it is not about a bunch of shallow girls shopping...sort of not.
