It is not too late to still contact your reps and senators to encourage them to please attend the D.C. Briefing on Wadi Foquin Village next Monday, November 24th. Dear Friends: Four days after the ceasefire took effect in Gaza late this summer, Israel announced it would expropriate 1,000 acres of Palestinian land in the Bethlehem district of the West Bank. The land annexation is intended for settlement expansion in violation of international law. A delegation from the village of Wadi Foquin will be in Washington D.C. on Monday, November 24, 2014 for a Capitol Hill briefing at 2168 Rayburn Building at 2 p.m. The delegation includes Ahmad Sokar, Mayor of Wadi Foquin; Ata Manasra, Community Development Coordinator; and Adel Horoub, Youth Coordinator. The briefing will educate members on the specific impact of this recent action on Wadi Foquin and its neighboring villages in the Bethlehem district. Wadi Foquin is supported by the General Board of Global Ministries of the United Methodist Church as a community development site and partnership with the Friends of Wadi Foquin. Here is how you can help us in the Campaign to Save Wadi Foquin: 1. Call and/or email your Congressional offices for both House & Senate and ask for the foreign affairs staff. 2. Briefly explain the situation in Wadi Foquin and the partnership with the United Methodist church 3. Urge them to attend the briefing and support the reversal of the confiscation order. 4. Email the attached details of the briefing. The briefing is sponsored by the United Methodist Church General Board of Church and Society; Friends of Wadi Foquin; Palestinian Christian Alliance for Peace (PCAP); US Campaign to End the Occupation; and the Faith Forum. Please let us know the response of your communication. Thanks, Michael Yoshii, Chair Friends of Wadi Foquin
