It is not uncommon for me to take a moment to simply stop everything. At random, I will cease moving, close my eyes, breath slowly. Often this is for the duration of a particularly emotional song. My heart slows, I almost cry, and every function of my mind and body come to a standstill. Most people do this, I do so more then most, but it is by no means uncommon. As of late, however, I cannot help but get a lingering suspicion that I have been standing there for years and years. The song will end, and I must talk myself down, try to convince myself that it was just one song, just four minuets. I have to come to terms with the fact that it has not been three hundred years, come to terms with the fact that everyone I know and love is alive yet, not gone centuries ago. I have to re-align my sense of time with actual time elapse, and until I do, it is terrifying. Every time is like waking up from a coma and being told it has been thirty years.
