It is official from order on high: in the event that the infields - TopicsExpress

It is official from order on high: in the event that the infields are too muddy to play, we are no longer permitted by parks and rec to set up temporary fields in the outfields. From now on, a park staffer will make the official call on the playability of the infields. Trust me, I have fought this battle long and hard and we have won on many fronts and gained other concessions on behalf of the league but outfield play is a thing of the past. That being said, in the event that we are rained out this Sunday, that pushes playoffs to May 31 & June 1. Also, if the rain is scheduled to come in later in the day and forces the cancellation of games, since we have already taken all of the available spots for the last round cancellations, that would require the addition of yet another game day. This would have to be Saturday, May 17 with final regular season games then on May 18 and playoffs as described above or the regular season ending on June 1 and playoffs June 7/8. This would then require pushing the summer league back. Obviously, final say lays with the city and park availability so weighing in here with your preferences will serve little good (sorry). Since any cancellations even later in the day, require the addition of an entire additional date, does it make sense to just cancel the entire day preemptively once the forecasts sure up and severe weather looks undeniable and move the day in its entirety (complete with ump schedule etc) to a future date? Whats going to keep you awake tonight? And tomorrow? And the next night and the next? I hate rain.
