It is one month of Modis rule. No public statement so far from him. It is subject of research for management experts. Some of the reasons I can associate with his silence are as below: 1: Modis governance skills are poor. He could not be exposed as CM Gujarat as state did not go through and serious crisis after 2002. Modi is tentative as PM. He is hiding. Statement on major issues such as price rise etc will come only from likes of Arun Jaitely so that even if price rise is not controlled, people have somebody else to blame. Remember, Karnataka assembly elections, Modi did not campaign as he anticipated defeat fro BJP. From management point of view, he is a weak leader against popular public perception that he is a great leader. Modi knows his weaknesses and he will e watchful and silent. 2. Modi will try to throw some issues which will divert attention of people from governance issues. His statement about promotion of Hindi was such an attempt. He failed miserably. He thought it will catch the imagination of people. He did not realize that we are at a stage where even Hindi speaking people dons support forced promotion of Hindi in intimidating manner . He may try with similar attempts. Till then he will keep silent over more serious issues. He will not talk about issues of governance. 3. Modi is a poor learner due to his rigid bent of mind and RSS background. Present day situation is dynamic and one has to be fast learner. Modi simply lacks the capacity to be flexible and hence caught up with very traditional solutions which may not be suitable for fast changing scenario. 4. It has come to my knowledge that in secretarys meetings, he does not talk about specific point being discussed. Instead, he talks very general , sometimes unrelated subject to make sure that his shallow knowledge is not exposed. How long he can go like this, is something to be watched.During his first meeting he told secretaries to come directly to him which is against simple administrative principles. It creates personal loyalties which is detrimental to good governance and also promotes sycophancy.It also reflects on his poor confidence level in how to deal with bureaucracy. In Gujarat, he could work with personal loyalty , bully and intimidate those who did not fall in line, it will be difficult to replicate the same in Govt of India. 5. He will avoid giving talks at university and colleges because he is afraid of being asked specific questions. Before elections he could blame Congress and Dr Manmohan Singh for every evil which the country faces but now he will be held accountable. He can not defend his government with historical flaws for a long time. People do not have that much of patience . 6. You might have noticed that only his still pictures are coming to media. Only facebook/twitter posts are coming to public. We have not seen any videos ( therefore TV channels are less painful). Modi having geat communication skills ( perhaps the only skill he has) will try to find alternate communication methods which he is less vulnerable to being exposed of his mediocre knowledge and administrative skills.
