It is only in #Pakistan that one can transform from a mass - TopicsExpress

It is only in #Pakistan that one can transform from a mass murderer into a martyr just by virtue of getting killed in a drone attack. This article points out the gory record of #TTP atrocities under the command of #Hakimullahmehsud as well as how he turned a largely rag-tag band of weak #terrorists into a full-fledged army capable of launching devastating attacks on Pakistan. Yet the state seems to have lost the will to fight its old foe, #Fazlullah, and his followers. When Mehsud was killed, instead of celebrating or letting out quiet sighs of relief, politicians and journalists reacted as if they had lost a favorite son. He had killed many of us, but we werent craving vengeance; we were ready to make up and cuddle. This article raises a very pertinent point of how the Pakistani state and those who run it celebrate the very people it is facing a clear and present existential danger from as either heroes or victims groaning under American oppression for the sake of Islam and their pristine way of life. The whole logic on which favorable portrayals of the #terrorists is based on is grossly insane and completely groundless. Like we asked before, COULD PEACE PARLEYS EVER BE HELD WITH IDEOLOGICAL #BIGOTS WHO PORTRAY THEMSELVES, NOT AS PRINCIPALS, BUT AS AGENTS OF GOD, AND WHO ARE LEFT WITH NO MORAL #LEGITIMACY THE MOMENT THEY LEAVE THIS CLAIM? They think they are better Muslims than all of us are, thats the ONE AND ONLY reason they are waging war on us. The Pakistani logic seems to be that if America stops killing them, theyll stop killing us. But the truth is that the #Taliban leadership has made no such promises. They have only said that if the government stops drone strikes, and stops coöperating with Americas war in Afghanistan, they would be willing to talk. But what would they talk about? THE LITTLE PROBLEM THEY HAVE WITH PAKISTAN IS THAT ITS AN #INFIDEL STATE—almost as bad as America, but with some potential; they believe that they can somehow make us all better Muslims. OUR TALIBAN ARE SIMPLY SAYING, SAVE US FROM THE U.S. DRONES, SO WE CAN CONTINUE TO KILL YOU INFIDELS IN PEACE. The Pakistani governments behavior is nothing but complete ABDICATION OF ITS BASIC RESPONSIBILITY TO ITS CITIZENS, THE ABANDONMENT OF THE VERY CORE BASIS OF ITS LEGITIMACY in the name of very absurd excuses used to justify the thoroughly indefensible onslaught waged by the #khariji #apostate #WajibUlQatal terrorists. Even more absurd is the whole debate ignited by a confused media and a confused nation on who is a martyr and who is not: we now have a raging national debate, in which serious-minded journalists are asking even more serious-minded politicians and religious scholars if the godless Soviet soldiers killed by American-funded mujahideen in Afghanistan in the nineteen-eighties should also be declared martyrs. The confusion stems only out of the fact that both sides in this war shout Allahu Akbar at one another before engaging in battle, which is a very absurd basis to be confused on. There should be absolutely no doubt that under the teachings of Islam, Pakistan is in the right, the terrorists are in the wrong. The Taliban are not mentally disturbed, as our Prime Minister suggests—they believe in something. The state doesnt. There is no real threat that the T.T.P. will take over Pakistan: there are far too many girls schools for them to blow up, and they face a huge military, which may fight on both sides of the war but knows that there can be no Army without a state. But in their collective hankering for one true Sharia, the leaders of Pakistans political and security establishment—and their American backers—have long since lost their bearings. newyorker/online/blogs/newsdesk/2013/11/taliban-mullah-fazlullah-why-pakistan-lionizes-its-tormenters.html
