It is probably appropriate at this point to clarify the intentions of Chorley Police with regards to our previous post due to the amount of interest generated: Our primary intention is not to kill puppies, (as many of the previous contributors seem to believe). We are committed to making sure our community is safe and will enforce available legislation only where it is appropriate to do so. If we do not act upon information we have and somebody is injured who would be criticised? Our Facebook site is not intended as an international forum to debate the politics behind the legislation but a forum for local issues of concern to the people of Chorley and surrounding areas. That said, in reply to many of the comments within the thread, we do believe that it is likely that many of these dogs are already ‘in the wrong hands’ which is why we believe they are likely to grow into dogs which pose a risk to the community. I would again ask that anybody with information about these dogs to speak to us and let us assess the risks involved and possible ways forward. Sgt Mountain. Chorley Neighbourhood Policing Team
