It is quite loud and clear that the response regarding the Peshawar incident was not equal from all quarters of the society, of which social media as facebook is a reflection. Some quarters, regarding themselves more puritans in Islamic tradition than others, remained silent or shifted attention towards other demanding aspects of society amidst all this. When perturbed, they would say, oh yes, we condemn the incident. The question is why do we observe this feeble and rather mute response from them? Some are more honest as Mullah abdul aziz ( reminds me of a coward escaping in burqa from lal masjid) who are at least unequivocal and hold that he does not regard the incident as an offense. This is all available in recorded statements by him and his wife. There is no general criticism of the mosque or madrassa as there is nothing wrong with an institution in itself. Things go wrong when we use these for wrong purposes. ( Mosque used against Muslims was not criticised by the Prophet ( PBUH) he simply demolished it). Rather, it would be better to say that a masjid or a madrassa deemed a protected place for enemies of Muslim ummah and Pakistan as well from where to initiate their goals. Allama Iqbal predicted this wrong use of madrassa and shared Ye butan e asr e hazir, ke baney hain madrisson mein, Na tarashe aazrana, na addaey kafirana. Meaning( these idols of today, being formed in madrassas where they do not carry a physical being like those formed by Aazar nor they can be regarded as non-Muslims) . A poet ahead of his times who predicted the breakdown of Muslim caliphate in Turkey in 1911, thirteen years after it actually did was indeed not wrong. Now please don’t condemn Iqbal for his criticism of the madrassa, as he was not senseless to my humble opinion. It goes without saying that after the American deals of Saudi princes which converted Arab to Saudi Arab, particular brands of Islam which would seem very puritan but in fact serve the purpose of disintegrating Muslims, were funded and spread; so that Muslims never rise up after the fall of Ottomen empire. The genius brains designed all this from within Islamic discourses. Today, in South Punjab, a host of Deobandi ( and lets us agree that original darul aloom deoband in India is not a part of this) madrassas are being used for a way of spreading anarchy in Pakistan. Lal masjid for example, murdered Chinese, abducted whomsoever they considered a social evil and were supplied ammunition by America to distintegrate Pakistan. The anti-Pakistan mindset did not end there. I have personally heard many lectures by ulema who regard nationalism and love for Pakistan, singing national anthem, saluting the flag all as outside Islam. This is because Pakistan being a nuclear power and the first country to arrange a successful summit conference calling Muslims to unite is the major threat for Jews and Americans. Please also refer to Hilary Clinton’s recent address in this regard where she acknowledges that wahhabi sect of Islam was the most suitable they could make use of to create militants against Soviet Union. TTP is also another brand to disintegrate Pakistan as Jews told the EU that if Pakistan survives after 2030, it would become too dominant on world politics. ( it would InshaAllah), but dear brothers and sisters, I agree with you that we should not be “”senseless”. We should therefore open our eyes and look far and near in our history, current politics, and both religious, non religious discourses to see what is going on. Taliban is not just a group of terrorists, it is a mindset that is being promoted in our deobandi madrassas getting a fund of 10 crores per year from Saudi Arab and UAE. UAE princes hurriedly met our PM just after the incident. The children studying in these madrassas are also our children. Let us save them from the evils they are being trained in in the name of a great religion as Islam. Also, please do not build an argument on the basis of ideals. Everyone has ideals, religious or otherwise, and are to be respected. But lets not forget what are the facts here. Soviet war is over, but the internal ideological threat to Pakistan it had created remains there. It is high time we counter act this mind set as educationists, teachers and Pakistani Muslims.
