It is rather hard for an old-timer like me to get used to some of the modern customs. First off it is a Gentlemen that buys a lady a drink (perhaps with ulterior motives but still the custom), I feel very uncomfortable when a lady buys me a drink. To cut a long story a little shorter...some months back a female Colonel from Northern Ohio stopped by Applebees and was a bit apprehensive about where were the safe places to dine. We struck up a conversation and I assured her she was very welcome and would be safe at this restaurant. It was apparent to here that I was and old vet so she trusted me. That first time we met, she left and when I tried to pay my bar tab, I was informed it was taken care of. Her tour of duty at Fort Knox is over and she leaves tomorrow. So, dang it, I tried to pay my tab this evening only to find out she had taken care of it... As an aside, her Husband was curious about making whiskey and legally bought the equipment to make a small batch of moon-shine. I have a quart jar of 134 proof of mountain dew courteous of her husband. I did take a sip...best tasting moonshine I have ever sampled...I guess the whole point of this...I am a lucky person...meet interesting people (not to mention the MG I met last week) and I appreciate the friends old and new...especially Dave Lawson...
