It is regrettable that the city of Auburn has chosen to sue Placer County in an effort to stop the Costco project before it even starts. Every action the county has taken is in full compliance with all applicable state statutes, including the California Environmental Quality Act. The county will be conducting a thorough environmental review before any decision is made about the Costco project. There has been absolutely no pre-determination about whether or not Costco will, ultimately, be approved to build in that location. We respect and appreciate the public participation process outlined in the County’s land development process and in the California Environmental Quality Act. It is the best forum for ensuring all voices are heard and considered, on all sides of an issue.
