It is sad that one of the most interesting, beautiful and unique cities are in war torn states. Damascus has a lot of beauty from its Islamic architecture, palm trees throughout the city and it has a high status of being such an old civilization area. It is one of the most important Islamic cities and it could have been such a big tourist city if it wasnt for wars. Same goes for other cities in the Islamic world and others. Though we do have Beirut, Islamabad, Tehran, Baku, Dubai, Riyadh, Samarkand and others but one of the ancient cities are occupied by war. Baghdad could have also made a great tourist site as it was the capital of past ruling Islamic empires. War just tries to conquer beauty. Kabul is also known for its beautiful rugs but Afghanistan is war torn. Karachi is known for its large metropolis and great culture but due to crime and pollution, its tourism rate is low.
