It is so easy for serving in the name of God to take priority over loving God Himself. It is all to easy to "adore" [to love or admire (someone) very much. : to like or desire (something) very much : to take great pleasure in (something)] the mission and the good work to be done in a way that our salvation seems to be for the purpose of doing the good works. We can fill the hours with service, giving, and investment for the common good, and do it all without the power of the Holy Spirit. Loving Jesus is not serving a meal, but you can love Jesus as you serve that meal. Jesus is the One we can serve, should serve, and give love to as we serve those around us. He is the mission, and He is the reward. There is no point to a mountain of good works if He is not at the top of that mountain.
