It is so good to be back home with my babies! I have so much to share with you all! For now, I am picking up my luggage that was sent on a later flight last night. Its ok though! I prayed for a long time on the flight from Houston yesterday. A big part of that prayer was for the Bowden family here in Stigler. I felt a longing and need to visit them at the hospital when I arrived, but it was late. Two of their sons were in a car wreck a few days ago. I was spending my last night in Guatemala City when I got the news that the elder son did not make it. Gunner was his name. I was Gunners 7th grade English teacher and I LOVED this kid! (He reminded me of my brother growing up. ;) ) He was a toughy, so I knew I was going to need to put a little more energy and effort into building a relationship with him. I wanted him to know I cared about him and his success in and outside of the classroom. Eventually, I earned his trust and we had a great rest of the year! My heart is so saddened and broken of his passing. Its still inconceivable. The rest of my story is that even though my luggage didnt arrive at the same time I did last night, I am here now picking it up and off to the hospital to see the younger son who is a 7th grader. I ask for your prayers for this family and healing for Jagger. Gunner would have completed 10th grade this year. Pray for his family. Pray for his friends. Pray for the teachers and the staff. Pray for the days ahead of them. #livemorebebrave
