It is stunning how often musicians recollect to me misfortunate studio experiences theyve had with disreputable studios. Speaking of other irresponsible engineers, they say things like he took all our money and disappeared, or he was always high while recording us and couldnt focus, or we still havent gotten our mixes back months later and he wont respond to us. Bands: when shopping studios, listen up. Its not enough that he might have recorded famous bands. Its not enough that his mixes sound good. Do your homework on his reputation before potentially wasting money and time on a dead-beat, as this industry is unfortunately saturating with them. You want a sound engineer who is courteous, responsive, reputable, experienced, enthusiastic about your music and music in general, and who understands exceptional customer service.
