It is the job of all muslims to enjoin what is good, and forbid - TopicsExpress

It is the job of all muslims to enjoin what is good, and forbid what is wrong. Various levels of WIC leadership have accused people of causing fitna when merely speaking the truth. Fitna is an Arabic word with extensive connotations of trial, affliction, or distress. Speaking the truth to inform the community of injustice is NOT fitna, merely words are made in the hope that we will, as a community, make better decisions in the future. Announcements are being made that the imam willingly resigned. A descision taken under force is not a willful decision. If he had willingly left in peace, he would have announced his departure in his own words at a friday khutba and bid us farewell. The imams previous posts confirm this. Posts which other board members are asking him to renounce because, again, they say it is causing fitna. When approached by various individuals, including board members, of what it would take for the sheikh to stay, he outlined his terms as follows: 1. The masjid should be in the name of the community, not individuals, as it is the responsibility of the community as a whole. In his words, Allah takes care of his house when it is handed to the community. WIC does not have this blessing since it is not the house of Allah, but rather a place of worship owned by individuals. 2. The head of the masjid should be the imam, not any other figure. The Imam should be the spirtual leader of the spirtual place of worship. Having multiple leaders allows for discord. The sunnah dictates that the community should elect themselves a single leader. 3. The board members should be elected by the community where those who direct the long term strategy of the masjid come from all backgrounds, cultures, and ages to accurately represent the communitys interests as a whole. The term for the board members should be a 2 year limit. The EC should be under the direction of the Imam. It is not acceptable for a Sheikh, an Islamic scholar, to be treated in such a manner where he is promised honorariums for Ramadan and not paid, where he is promised healthcare for his family and he pays thousands of dollars out of his own pocket for his childs birth when it was free in Canada, where living expenses for food were promised and fell short consistently forcing the imam to rely on fridays dinners to feed his family along with other poor members of the community to the point where they would have applied for food stamps if they were American citizens. Yes, they paid for his schooling. So our World Class Scholar is worth the salary of a Burger King employee. Please ponder on how simply he lived, on the car he drives, and how we should have realized the situation before it was too late and supported our scholar as a community instead of allowing some to push him out of worcester when they felt he couldnt be controlled. As mulsims, we are requried to speak the truth, stand up for what is right and forbid evil. I urge you to think, question, and ask how you can make a difference and not let this situation repeat. It is our responsibility to make the world better for our children. Sheikh Uthman Khan, please correct me if I am incorrect in anything I have stated. And again, I apologize for not having realized your situation when it mattered. The community setup this email address: enjoinwhatisgood@gmail. If you would like to email your thoughts on this subject in order to show Sheikh/board members what your thoughts are... it will be shared anonymously.
