This articulation precedes by some distance that of spoken language. It explains the principle in the beginning was the Word (In principio erat Verbum) - we might say, rather, in the beginning was articulation. Entities are not dumb, rather they are articulated; we do not speak because we have language but because we conspire with, and participate in, this generalized articulation.
